1.0 Formalities – Introduction

Visiting Ukraine entails a number of formalities, which may, initially, appear daunting. UK and other EU citizens do not, currently, need a visa for a temporary stay in Ukraine, which makes the process more user-friendly (if, though, you are a non-EU national you should check any agreements between Ukraine and your country). Additionally, the authoritites have made efforts to simplify procedures in time for various international events being held in the country. It is, however, better to be prepared, and this module helps you to do so.

By working through Module 1 you will practise:

• reading and understanding information on customs formalities in Ukraine
• listening to and understanding regulations relating to visiting Ukraine
• understanding and filling in official forms
• the vocabulary and grammatical structures needed to understand spoken and written information relating to formalities and to discuss this topic.
