Exercise 2.3B
Using the prompts below give directions, in Ukrainian in the spaces provided, which will enable a colleague from Ukraine to get to your university institute. Before you do so you may wish to revise the use of verbs of motion, gerunds and imperatives (Pages 4.6 and 13.3 to 13.6 of Read Ukrainian!), as well as the vocabulary relating to directions given on page 2.5 of these materials. In each case click on 'show answer' to see a suggested response.
How to get to the institute where I work:

It is most convenient to go by tube and get out at “Kings Cross” station – this is the nearest stop.
Найзручніше їхати метро і вийти на станції «Кінґз Кросс» - це найближча зупинка.
Once you have left the station, turn right and go straight ahead.
Вийшовши з метро, поверніть/поверни праворуч і йдіть/іди прямо.
On your right you will see the international station, a large renovated hotel and the British Library.
Праворуч побачите/побачиш міжнародний вокзал, великий відреставрований готель та Британську бібліотеку.
When you get to Euston railway station, at the traffic lights turn left and cross the road (on the corner by the old church of St. Pancras).
Коли дійдете/дійдеш до залізничного вокзалу «Юстон», біля світлофору поверніть/поверни ліворуч, перейдіть/перейди дорогу (на розі біля стародавньої церкви).
From here it’s not far: you have to take the first road on the right then the second left.
Звідсіля вже недалеко: треба повернути в першу вулицю праворуч, потім у другу ліворуч.
The building is located on the left.
Будинок розташований з лівої сторони (вулиці).
It’s a not very large building designed in the modern style.
Це не надто великий сучасний будинок.
My office is located on the 4th floor (English style) or the 5th (Ukrainian style) and you can get to it from the entrance by means of the stairs or the lift.
Мій кабінет розташований на четвертому поверсі (по-англійському) а на п’ятому (по-українському), можна туди дістатися з фойє сходами або ліфтом.
