1. море can also denote a very large reservoir or other area of water; Каховське море (the Kakhovka Reservoir) on the Dnipro River has an area of 2,155 square kilometres; it was created during the building of the Kakhovka hydro-electric station (in the 1950s), by damming the Dnipro and flooding a large area of land of considerable significance for Ukrainian collective memory and history (particularly the Zaporozhian Cossacks)
